Welcome to the Ewe Beaut cartoons

My name is Colin Langmead and I have been a professional cartoonist and illustrator for over 20 years. Following my graduation in Visual Communication Design I worked in London with Dunhill, British Petroleum and the World Wildlife Foundation as some of my clients. On my return to Australasia, I saw a gap in the market for some home grown humour and my sheep characters were born. Initially designed for a greeting card range, these characters have been hugely successful, selling over half a million cards.

The move to producing cartoons for newspapers and magazines was a natural evolution following the success of our card range. New characters have extended the series over the years which have now run in 22 publications. These include “The Wool Blacks” a rugby playing flock which have been extremely popular in New Zealand. “Nanools” a series of snail characters inspired by my daughters first name for snails. “Thoughts for Ewe” a simple and inspiring cartoon series about thought patterns. “Cattle an Tics” has been great fun to produce and the herd has grown to more than 200 head over the years. The “Love Ewe” series was created to inspire each of us to take time out for ourselves in our often busy and challenging lives. The “Ewe Beaut” series is a humorous look at all things Australian and like all inspired creative endeavours the characters have developed a personality and charm all of their own.

Random House has published two books of the cartoon series and with over 1000 cartoons already published we are constantly expanding our range.
